long gone

I just listened to Long Gone Rock version sounds great. Album version sounds terrible. He should redo this album but in rock. I might consider buying it then. But that has annoyed me a lot creating a rock version of a track from the album. If that is a b-side from the Long gone Single then its wrong. It should be and A-side and the other stuff should be b-sides cos they're forgotten much like this album will be sometime soon

All Hail Chris Cornell

This is one of the best albums of 2009. The songs are delivered with passion and grace, just as he has always done. I don't understand how anyone can reject this because it is quote "a different" genre. Not true! This music is gets to your bones and renders you helpless - you have to listen to it again and again and again. Great work from a contemporary lyricist and vocalist. Thank God we will have something to listen to this year (and for many to come)!

big up

album/concept is good/works - glad to see cornell embracing a new genre n generally doing what he wants instead of being forced to rehash the same sound to keep people happy- best part is a return to his voice being highlighted (like in the badmotorfinger days) audio slave was good but voice took on a monotone drone and got washed out with other instrumentation. really renewed my faith in the guy / music in general. holla!

I'm amazed and think outside thed box.

And you did it again, you did it first in the early 90's with a new sound that killed hair band music (my type of music at the time), first to cut that long hair and now you have the balls to do it with a pop album with Timbaland, I was afraid to listen to it and when I did (if you are a CLOSED minded music lover you will never get it) I was amazed, the songs are unbelievable, the mix of the best pop producer with the best rock vocals created an unforgettable album, should be considered for a grammy. Was at the Montclair, NJ. show last night and was blown away, you gave all those pop songs a real rock sound with that great band you have, I consider you a great artist that grows with time and is not stuck in the past as great as it was and keep entertaining us with great music that is fresh, keep doing it with whatever sound you chose. People that hate this album probably still have a mullet.

Screw those guys!

I can completely understand why fans of Soundgarden and Audioslave might not understand this album. I even think they have the right to come here and say that to you. But it's totally not necessary, or respectful, at all, to come here and say that it's crap and that CC is dead and other such inane drivel. I applaud Chris for having the intestinal fortitude to try something new, and personally I'm really excited about it. It definitely is a surprise at first, but it honestly grows on you the more you listen to it. I don't see it as a 'dance' album or R&B or anything but a single entity. Billy Idol did a very similar thing with his "Cyberpunk" album and it was received in much the same way, but it remains one of my top 5 favorite records of all time. (Chris, if you haven't heard "Cyberpunk" I encourage you to give it a listen!) :-) I don't care for most hip-hop or R&B, and I do like Chris's older stuff too, but he has grown and progressed on from the Seattle gruge scene, and I think other people need to, as well. It was what it was, but times are changing. Good on Chris for being able to change with them. Hats off to you, man, keep on keepin' on, wherever it may lead you!

You will wrap them all up!

Shit, when I read you would make business with Timberland, I thought this would the end of another fortress of rockn'roll. But I am wrong. When I'm listening carefully to your new sounds I can make out your typical halftonemelodies. And I feel like home. You' re still the master on the record. You will catch them all (also Timberland). Keep on rocking hard.... I love you.

LOVE this album!

Just wanted to say, Kudos for having the guts and the vision to take your music to another level and stretch your boundaries. Most of what I hear on the radio now is just a rehash of what they were putting out 10 years ago. Keep it coming for those of us who will always love you no matter what, Chris.

SOMEBODY FIND TIMBALAND

What a disgrace!!! Chris Cornell should be embarassed by this album. Apparently he didn't have editorial rights to change what Timbaland created, or should I say ruined. To think that such a great rock vocalist would "lower" himself to standards where music is not involved, all electronic SHIT!!!!!! Un effing believable is all I can think to say. Come on CC, time to redeem yourself. He could have gotten someone who can't sing to make this album. Next stop, SNL lip syncing with Kanye West........ Time for an Obama bailout on this one....... One of the greatest rock singers of all time can now RIP, cuz he is dead if he's going to put this shit out......

one more chance to redeem himself

I decided to listen to the music on the homepage. I had heard 4 or 5 tracks and said it was rubbish. I judged it a bit to quickly. This album is utter garbage. I heard the remaining tracks on the album and i was about to rip my own ears off. I never liked rap and rnb. This album makes me hate it more. If i ever see timbaland walking down the street someday i would happily punch him in the face for ruining one of the best rock vocalists. For me he has one last chance to redeem himself with a proper rock album. I listened to enemy and watch out and for the person that said it's heavy it's not. Listen to 4th of July or mailman now thats heavy stuff. All songs are rubbish and i think my money should be going towards other albums and not this.

CAN'T WAIT FOR CONCERT IN CHICAGO. THIS NEW ALBUMN KICKED MY ASS.

FOR ALL THE CRITICS AND SMALL-MINDED FANS, OPEN YOUR EARS. THIS ALBUMN GROWS ON YOU THE MORE YOU LISTEN TO IT. WHILE IT MAY HAVE BEEN OVER PRODUCED A LITTLE, IT STILL HAS THE BEST VOCALIST IN THE LAST 2 DECADES WORKING HIS MAGIC AGAIN. IS THERE NOTHING HE CAN'T DO. CAN'T WAIT TO SEE HIM AT IN CHICAGO. I'M 55 AND MY GRANDKIDS LOVE IT TOO! JUST BRING THEM UP RIGHT. THEY DON'T CLOSE THEIR MINDS, THEY JUST ENJOY A GOOD BEAT AND A GREAT SINGER WHEN THEY HEAR IT.

Look

JDF91, look i'm not dissing on people for giving their opinions. I have no problem with them doing that. The people I was refurring to were the ones who just get on this page to do nothing but cuss Cornell out and tell him how stupid he is. Those are the "stupid" people I was refurring to. I mean it's his choice to try something new and people are bashing him for it! I just don't think it's right for them to be doing that. My bad if it came out as if it was directed to everyone. Thanks for the response.

Stupid?

Diedaes, Nice response. Your post is such a cliche it's 'stupid'. Everyone is stating their opinion and you attack them, taking a cliched high road. As a fan, I have no problem with trying new things, I prefer it. I am not asking for another SG or Audio album. What I would like is to hear more of Chris singing, and a lot less of the total BS that TimbaJoke threw on this album. Chris can sing it country for all I care, as long as its him. Just my thoughts.

Ugh. People can be so stupid...

Hey Chris, the new album is different but deffinetly something worth listening to. It may not take us back to your grunge rock days but sometimes you just gotta try something new and explore some new ideas. If everyone just stuck the same kind of genre than things would get old real quick. I really appreciate you branching out like this and hope others will take a lesson from it. As for all these so called "fans," they can take there stupid comments and shove it. If they can't appreciate this CD and would ditch you so easily over one little CD after claiming to be fans "since your Temple of Dog days," than who needs the punk-asses. If they won't let you do what you feel like you need to do, and try to control every aspect of your music career, than they aren't any kind of fan I'd want. So again I'd like to thank you for the new album and hope that keep not letting others influence and control the music you make. Stay original in this world that's now full of sell outs and one hit wonders, you're nothing like any of them. See-ya Chris and I hope you're doing good! Peace, Q

Please

Do us a favor and put together a new album quickly. While there are pieces of this one I can handle, overall this is just brutal. I am all for trying new things, but this should be declared what it is - a major disaster. I have pretty eclectic taste, and this doesn't fit anywhere. All will be foregiven, just come out with some new stuff that is more true to what you do. Please do it quickly, so I can put this album behind me.

Im a huge soundgarden, Temple of the Dog, Audioslave fan and both solo albums were really good too (i liked euphoria morning better than carry on) but Carry On had some great songs on there that i listen to daily. Anyway I LOVE this new album. "Enemy" rocks! That song is still really heavy even with the beats to it! Anyway this is a great album and even a huge fan of his past work can love this and will!!!!

So you're saying I'm not a real Cornell Fan. Well I own all 6 soundgarden albums. I own both the previous solo albums also own all 3 audioslave albums and also live in Cuba and also Temple Of The Dog. You're saying I'm not a real Cornell Fan. Right. Firstly I wouldn't even download this album cos it sucks. Secondly how much is this album cos it doesn't deserve my money unlike every other album Cornell has done. Cornell has turned his back on the True rock fans and said hello to the new breed of fans. Cornell has one last chance to redeem himself. If he is still busy selling out then I turn my back on him. I've been a Cornell fan for a while. The first I heard of Cornell was back in the first Audioslave song. I didn't really know much about Cornell but I was a bit too young then before you attack me for only starting to like Chris in Audioslave

tastes a bit like air

I allways liked the fanboy mentality.. If you dont like everything about the subject your not a "real" fan. Don't event think about giving it some critique. I dont think the new album suck, but as with the other solo albums it's quickly forgotten. I think Cornell really does his best work when playing with others and perhaps the genre is not really for him.. but got to respect the man for giving it a try.. now give us the Rock back plz :)

This album is more amazing than I thought!

Ok so i usually have some favorite songs on every album that I get and listen to them the majority of the time.......but with this album the tracks run together and that got me listening to every single track and I cant believe how amazing this thing is! I thought it was not supposed to be available but for some reason it still is and I can not stop listening to it for the life of me. This is really a great album!!! Thanks for the great songs Cornell! You know i wasn't so sure about this combination of Cornell and Timbaland when I first heard it but the minute I heard a song or two I thought it was pretty good......I actually wouldn't mind hearing more of this stuff. Great album, I can't ever see myself stop listening to this! Cant wait to see Cornell at Myth in St. Paul!! Pumped!!

Not Bad

I just listened to the majority of Chris's new Album Scream on his myspace page. Most of the songs are not that bad. I do like Long gone and Scream. However, in saying this, pop music does not suit Chris at all; so I hope he does not put out another "pop esque" type album. What I would like him to do from here is either reunite with Soundgarden (which would be awsome for the grunge/metal culture) or form a new band with musicians that he can collaborate with very well. I personally do not think that Chris is not at his best musically on his own, he gells very well when he puts his personal differences aside and works with talented m musicians. I mean history speaks for itself, just listen to the brilliant lyrics he wrote with soundgarden, temple of the dog and audioslave; his work with those bands were nothing short of masterful. The main problem with Chris now, even with all his intelletual musicianship and innovative ideas is that he is trying too hard to be an "artist", which is too bad. He is still definetly my favorate vocalist of all time and I still respect the solo work he does, however, he needs to go back to his grassroots of songwriting and sound and produce the most pulse-pounding genre of music out there grunge rock!!! That is all

Your voice inspired and awed me at every show. Many Temple and sound garden songs play daily in my car house and head every day..to this very day. To all the people who say this is the best album You are NOT are real Cornell fan. You somehow stumbled across it on a shit music channel since he became a sell out. Also the top comment about the negative comments. I'll say what i want cos I'm a real Cornell fan. I own all Soundgarden albums all audioslave albums also Temple of The Dog and both of the previous albums. This is a pile of garbage from a man that is wasting his talent with some talentless R&B guy Timbaland. What you people don't understand is that this style isn't him. He should stick to rock/grunge style music. I can't believe people like this.

Open up your mind!

im not the only one who does not want to hear negative stuff about this record. For one you dont have to like it. But to waste your time to put someone elses work down that is just pretty low. Lets hear some of the stuff your making......got any that i can listen to??? If you do i will listen to it and if i dont like it i wont waste my time to tell you how much it sucks. Chris Cornell is a musician and frankly it would get kind of boring for everyone if he played the same stuff(dont get me wrong, his old stuff is AWESOME!) but it is really great to look forward to new and creative things from great musicians. The album comes out soon and i can not wait as for you "choclatetown" that sucks for you that you dont like it becuase im am really going to enjoy this album. So dont waste your time and everyone elses by posting negative things, just keep your negative feedback to yourself. Thanks everyone see you later

An opinion that matters?!? You really think so?

Ok... I'm sorry, but everywhere I go there seems to be someone spouting generic crap about how this music is crap and Soundgarden rocked the world and it really bugs me that these people think that by telling a bunch of random people this they are re-iterating just how "ROCK" they are. "So dude. What do you think of the new Chris Cornell stuff?" "Dude! You don't understand just how ROCK I am... the fact that you ask me that I take as an insult. Sure he still plays guitar and still has that signature voice... but the drum beat is electronic man... ELECTRONIC!!! what the hell... that's not tough... I'm tough. I've been listening to Soundgarden back BEFORE it was cool and Hell yeah I haven't evolved at all since then." Yes I've gone off on a tangent (I'll do that) but my point remains valid! And though I haven't actually EXPRESSED that point yet, you can be DAMN sure it's valid. It's like if I was some sort of celebrity I assume people would buy tickets simply to rock up to the show and BOO and pelt me with rotten fish. Question 1: Why did you buy tickets and go to all the effort of turning up just to have a bad time and BOO me? Though in THIS case people bought tickets and rotten fish but went to ANOTHER show to throw rotten fish at a completely different artist because of some vague similarities. YES I know that doesn't make sense either, but damned if I'm going on ann expedition to find this mysterious delete button I keep hearing about. Perhaps the more important question though would be: Where the hell did you find a place to buy rotten fish? I guess one point is that Chris Cornell's music has definitely evolved and changed over time and I think most people are pretty open minded to that now. You ask someone what kind of music they're into now days and you get a list, whereas a few years back you'd just get one genre. I was listening at the very start of soundgarden and have some crazy record of a very early live performance before the actual band name was iconicised (sure it's a word) and I'm still here now. I appreciate the new sound and like the direction it's going. Does that make me less "rock hard"? Hell no it doesn't. Another... more final point (as I think I've been walking this garden path long enough) is that if you have chosen not to evolve your styles from 1990 then that's all good, but if you don't like it... don't listen to it. And for crying out loud, don't go to the effort of signing up to a fan page to discuss how you're not a fan... it's strange. If you need alienation to confirm your position in society so bad go crawl into a dark corner somewhere making small incisions on your exposed forearms while you sob about how hard exams are like everybody else does... SMILEY FACE!!!!

Magic Still There

"The Chris Cornell concert was absolutely incredible! I wish I could go to one of his concerts EVERY Saturday night. WOW! What a release of tension that was. I was singing, dancing, screaming, laughing, jumping up and down, etc. The fans were also incredible. I think it was the loudest group of people I've ever encountered in one room. There was ENERGY in the air. Chris Cornell said that it wasn't his birthday, but he felt like it was." This is an excerpt from an e-mail to one of my friends who missed this amazing July 28, 2007 concert at the Sovereign Performing Arts Center in Reading, PA. Fans must remember that no matter which direction Chris Cornell goes in, it is HIS direction. He is doing what he feels is right at the moment. This is what he wants to do, and I respect that. I haven't heard the whole "Scream" album yet, but I've heard the songs that are on this website. Although, the songs are very different from anything he's ever done before, I like them. The Cornell magic is still there. I am looking forward to hearing more new songs. I hope they are continuously added to this website. I am also going to watch this website like a hungry little hawk for PA concert dates! Please play at my favorite theatre, Chris. We will make it feel like your birthday again...

Where do I even begin?

Chris Cornell is definitely my favorite artist in the music industry and I consider him to have a lot in common with me. No other artists can make me think as deep as his music and lyrics have. One of my favorite things I liked to do in the fall is just stare out the window on my school bus and just think about what his lyrics said while taking in the beauty of nature. He sparks my intellectual thinking whenever I hear him. He inspires me to write my own poetry. I am glad that God has blessed him with a voice as good as he has. I want to see what makes him tick, for in finding what drives him, I can see what drives me.

It damn sure ain't Soundgarden.....

But it's still really good.  I can't wait to hear the rest of the album.  I did like Scream, but I hope there are at least a few true 'rock' songs on it.  Chris could sing the phone book and make it sound good.  Everybody who is a true fan should check out his Live in Sweden cd....some awesome accoustic versions of Soundgarden and Audioslave songs as well as some great covers.  I love ya, Chris.

Chris Cornell is definitely the best singer of our day!

There is no one who can equal Chris Cornell in his ability to make a song more than just a song.  His voice is the music!  I always loved that in Sound Garden and  Audio Slave, the music seemed to be built around his voice, which meant that it was Chris' voice that made both those bands two of the best bands ever!  Chris, I am an original Spoon Man and I love the superunknown!  Yours is a voice that one cannot cultivate.  It is a gift from the alignment of the stars to produce perhaps the greatest voice ever in modern music!

Amazing music

'Scream' is one of the best albums I've heard in years. Very well done. Chris never stops producing an amazing sound.

God Bless Chris Cornell and Timbaland

May God bless you and keep you always Chris..We miss you so bad along with layne Staley and Alice in Chains and the whole Seattle groove..I am so glad you made it through the pain of that rough time for all associated with Mother Love Bone and Andrew Wood and Layne Staley..I know it was a difficult time for you..So happy you made it through..I will continue to pray for you,  and you sound absolutely amazing on this new album with Timbaland..
Hey Tim? Can you give us the scoop on whether there will be a Hustle and Flow 2? Sorry a little off subject, but we are waiting anxiously for that also..Take care God Bless..Can't wait for anything that Chris does..Its all blessed and anointed with superhuman talent!

...

Delve into? I'm speaking for myself but i know plenty of Soundgarden. Which i still listen to on a regular basis. Along with Temple of the Dog. Just ready to hear more of him... no its nothing like Soundgarden but i'm giving it a chance anyway. And the more I hear the new CD the more i like it.

People need to chill out

I was disappointed it wasn't released on election day, too, but we don't have to act like victims or like we're entitled to minute by minute updates of what's going on.  This has occurred with a lot of artists whose albums I was anticipating.  Sometimes something holds up production. It happens.

Can't wait for the new CD! Love you, Chris!

Love the music

Went and saw him at the HOB in San Diego with Timbaland and it was AWESOME. The music was so much fun from the both of them. There was definitely mixed responses from the crowd as we had not seen Chris play with DJ's before.  It would have been nice to hear the music before hand, but it was still nice to see and hear Chris playing.  The music is going to be great to listen to while working out!<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /><meta name="ProgId" content="Word.Document" /><meta name="Generator" content="Microsoft Word 11" /><meta name="Originator" content="Microsoft Word 11" /><link rel="File-List" /><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 </xml><![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> </xml><![endif]--><style> <!-- /* Style Definitions */ p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal {mso-style-parent:""; margin:0in; margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:12.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";} @page Section1 {size:8.5in 11.0in; margin:1.0in 1.25in 1.0in 1.25in; mso-header-margin:.5in; mso-footer-margin:.5in; mso-paper-source:0;} div.Section1 {page:Section1;} --> </style><!--[if gte mso 10]> <style> /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} </style> <![endif]-->

Where Is The New CD?

It would have been nice to at least been informed of a new date, so that I and many others hadn't taken time out of our days to search the stores for the new CD.  I've read that it won't be out until January 22nd now, very disappointing.

Sad/Upset

It's not cool that I went to Best Buy today expecting a new cd only to hear it may be another two months.  Some heads up would have been appreciated.  Even the website still says it is coming out today.
:(
Now I have nothing great and new to listen to while waiting for election results :)

No, the big day is not here.

No, this album that everybody seems to be so in love with is still M.I.A. If Chris is rehearsing the damn thing front to back, it must be done. Great! let's listen! Ah crap, we can't! Chris wants to release it as a holiday super-pack at Wal-Mart, complete with Timbaland sings the Christmas hits and an extra large candy cane to shove up your ass for waiting for the same damn album through 3 delays.

where is your freaking album?

Hey bro, aren't you supposed to play music or have an album or something? I mean isn't this why we're all at this site? Can we at least be told the release date OR tell us there isn't one! Shite, man. Jeez.

The Big Day Has Come! We think

Hopefully, Scream is coming out today! Today, most American's top priority is to vote. Mine is to find out if Scream really has been released! Chris, thank  you so much for this album. You have been so good to us, so much new music since Audioslave began. I have been living in an incredible musical heaven for the past 6 years.  I can't wait to hear these songs live! I hope to see you in NYC, Philly and Atlantic City.

New Album

Is there an actual release date on this album? I'm hearing January now.  Let's all hope it's still November 4th.

New Thoughts

I admit I wasn't originally going to buy the record. I have a very low tolerance for hip-hop kind of music in general and it frustrated me to hear it with your voice. I just didn't jive with the songs.

After the mash-up fun I did and listening to more clips I am still a bit leery but I will definitely own a copy now. The hi=hop beats really mesh well with the awesomeness of your vocal power.

Kudos on continuing to break those barriers and bringing back music. You're the only American person I listen to on a regular basis nowadays. And I appreciate it so much!!

Keep on rockin' man!!

NEW ALBUM

I have to say that I have been bored to the point of anger with music lately.  Its nice to hear something original, kickass and real.  Actually its better than nice....its like breathing again after holding your breath and turning blue.

my opinion

The photo cover is really amazing.
A clear coluour like light blue is and the huge power of Cornell falling with a guitar..
no words.
Can't wait to listen to the new album..

Longgggggggggggggggggggg gone.

Seriously, November seems like so far away, can't wait to hear the album, 2 days before your show in Coquitlam, always an amazing experience to hear yet another side of an amazing songwriter but most of all the VOICE!  Good luck with it.
