Never dull

Just wanted to post something decent about the nasty Cornell threads being taken down over at SGWorld and all the usually suspects turned the comment emotional and hateful. Yep...maybe Kat and Sea realized what was all over there and took it down. Maybe it's back tracking now...who knows...but it is gone thank goodness. All the "we can say whatever we want" people telling me I can't say something and to let it die! LOL! Sorry. I know I can come here and laugh with most of you about it.

Re: Never dull

Yes I posted in your SGWorld thread about the PJ forum crap about Chris & SG being removed, they moved it to the misc. section and locked it - undergonads and friends were there in no time starting a fight, for some reason they ddin't seem to want it talked about - lol. It's at http://www.soundgardenworld.com/forum/2902 now Anyway glad the Pearl Jam mods saw sense!!! :) :)

Re: Never dull

LOL! Undergonads and her possie are predictable and yes... i was thinking the exact same thing....they wanna slam but when it doesn't suit them it is "so one dimensional" The double standards just fly with that group. It's almost amusing. You know just what to write to make them respond. Lordy. I am usually much nicer than this! Must be the after affects of a full moon or something! I will go back to being nice soon.

I can't believe they locked the thread already. At least they are on top of things now.

Re: Never dull

You know I don't care one way or the other about Pearl Jam, all their songs sound the same to me, but I saw this on Twitter today and it made me laugh because it's sort of funny when someone doesn't think the sun shines out of their bums.

That link won't work for me. It says "Forbidden" and now I am even more curious... what does it say? Anyone else have trouble with the link?

How much Pearl Jam have you really listened to..
Without a shadow of a doubt, they are a top 3 band in the last 20 years of music.
There songs (like many of Chris') have personal & deeper meaning that your typical rock band.

Just MHO

Not much just a few things that probably everyone knows but they just don't inspire me to seek out more music by them. Like I said it all sounds the same to me. No offence, I'm glad you like them, I wasn't trying to spoil anyone's fun. Just that sometimes people go on about them like they can do no wrong.

Re: Never dull

LOL see what I mean - I didn't say anything bad about Pearl Jam except they are not my taste in music and you guys can't believe someone doesn't like them!!!! LOL
Their fans are passionate and that is great but defend CC from abuse though and PJ fans will call you a whackjob or a sheep. They even objected to CC fans talking about his tour or albums on their forum and called it spamming. I don't know it might have been OTT streetteaming I wasn't there at the time - but you see what I'm saying??

Anyway I'm glad everyone got stuff out of thier systems at SGWorld before the thread got closed and hope everyone will stop fighting and just support CC/SG with no more drama!!

Re: Never dull

I like certain songs by PJ but overall they aren't my cup of tea...but I don't deny that the are a talent. I read over at the PJ boards but I don't post just because I am not passionate like I am about Cornell...and that is ok. Difference is what makes the world go round :)

Goldberry...the thing I will add to what you said is this.... Some of the hurt feelings came when so many people bashed Cornell and then came on his own site and bashed him too. Who takes time to not like someone's new direction or not even be a fan and then comes to his forum and bashes him. To me...just move on. I don't understand that mindset ya know? I don't write on PJ forums that I only like a couple of songs but it's really not my thing. Why would I do that? I have no intention of disrespecting the band or their fan base. It's only respectful.... But I am going to be positive and say I think we are moving in a positive direction. I'm a glass half full kinda gal. :)

No offense taken at all.
I just figured you did not have much exposure to their music if you were going to say it all sounds the same.

I kind of gave up on them after Vitalogy, I liked a few songs after that but got closed minded as their music sounded less and less like their debut album which is one of the greatest albums ever in my mind at least.

As I took the time later in life to listen to all the albums in the last 10 years or so, I was amazed how many great songs I had missed out on. I will go down on record as saying their 1st 3 albums are their best, but it sure didnt stop there.

If you liked the grunge era(which was last last great era of rock to date), it may behoove you to give PJ a closer listen. They are great musicians and Eddie is an awesome front guy. They are basically Temple of the Dog with Eddie instead of Chris. (the two greatest vocalists of the last 20 years)

{q a=[[Pizzaguy They are basically Temple of the Dog with Eddie instead of Chris. {/q}

A very critical difference! ;)

I loved Ten, but they lost me after that. But, basically if you want to like it, you will. Of those who gave Scream an honest try, many came to like it. I didn't like Euphoria Morning at first and now I believe it to be a brilliant, genius work of art! Some finer points of music seep in over time, I suppose...

I felt just like you after 10. I liked VS and liked Vitalogy somewhat then they lost me because I kept expecting more songs like those on 10. I went back years later & like almost everything on the 1st 3 CDs and many other songs afterwards

I listened to Scream 2xs start to finish. It is not for me. Outside of this website, I never met anyone who liked it but in most cases, I doubt they really even listed to it.

Euphoria Morning has a couple good songs. It is the best of his solo work for sure, but it is a far cry from SG or AS. I think his best solo song by far is Seasons

But this is just MHO

It is not surprising at all that so many people have given him flack for Scream. It is just way too far from the norm for the majority of SG or AS fans

Re: Never dull

pizzaguy...thanks for having a very cool rational conversation about PJ :) So refreshing to have people to talk to on here that aren't jumping down throats if the opinion is different. What did you think of the Into the Wild project Eddie did? I have Ten, VS and that. Those are what I listen to when I do feel in the mood for some PJ.

I love Eddie but most admit I have not been exposed to much of Into the Wild yet..

I never saw PJ live until this year. I had been very closed minded to their music since Vitalogy. Shame on me.

Like Chris, Eddie has long setlists and he does not just play the hits (even though I most admit I wish he played more hits when I saw them since it was my 1st show)

THey have so many great songs after the 1st 3 Cds. Anyone who loved them in the early and mid 90s, but drifted away from them after that would really be intrigued with much of their work in the last 10+ years

Like Chris, Eddie write songs which are much deeper and of a more personal nature.

I love them both

Re: Never dull

Very cool. I thought the idea of an artist doing and entire soundtrack was a cool idea and this movie and Eddie seemed like the perfect marriage. Think i need to revisit some PJ.

While the albums after Vitalogy are not as deep as the first 3 albums, they all have a few great songs. I am sure many PJ fans will say they are all great, but I will admit I am a tough critic on music.

If you go into Pearl Jams Wikipedia and review the inspiration behind some of Eddies songs, it really enhances your enjoyment..
