ft. Timbaland
Ca c'est magnifique! Loved you with Soundgarden, but never thought you could be funky! Grandiose!
Amos Lee: "The Wind" - I can picture Chris's old voice (Seasons's) on a song such as this. Blues with an edge. Yes, I can't dance. Soundgarden sounded more intellectual than that. Scream seems more like "dance" music???? Turn your back, turn the channel. New like a baby, lost like a prayer. Maybe our wounds will heal in time.
Great video for the song. LOVE THE ALBUM! A true artist is compelled to pave his own path and those that follow in his journey enjoy the ride and those that don't can always wait for another day... I've been playing this new cd NON-STOP and the show in Chicago was phenomenal!
it's the best song I 've ever been heard.and chris is perfect man.melody of song is lost in human itself.I met with chris 's songs new.it's amazing.fascinates me is the sound of chris.
Shame about the 'blanks' in the video (the word "Bi***" being absent).. perhaps a better way to get around the censorship would have been to substitue the word with 'witch'... but then that's my personal opinion as I don't like the 'space'. EXCELLENT album. PERIOD!
As an individual who likes and enjoys sounds and melodies rotted in rock and folk music, I’ve followed Chris Cornell’s works through his career, and we always got this sense and vibe that all things he puts out are coming from a decent and honest place, he really has done energized songs, nice melodies and has wrote great lyrics! This album ( scream ) is different, and I gave it a chance, all started with the song TAKE ME ALIVE, which I consider to be an acceptable sound that creates a good atmosphere, then I listend the rest of IT ( the album of course ), giving me a chance to hear it and to IT be heard, and it grew in a way on me, and every time I listen to it, I imagine all these songs played in a drum, guitar, bass, vocals and some other subtle sound base, and makes me think that this will happend eventually in a future ahead, in concerts, LIVE! the concerts that you and me will go. And all these songs sound great, they make sense and sound to Chris Cornell, the one you’re musical tastes allowed to become part to what you call you’re collections of musical likes. Anyway, the album just in the way that it is now, has good songs, and in the songs that you might not like you’ll find acceptable spaces of decent sounds and mixes. Give it a chance to the album, and you’ll find a decent work.
OOOHHHH NOOOOOOOOOO! this should be timberland feat. chris cornell. cornell is a real talent. gifted song writer and musican, why would he need to do this. hopefully realization kicks in. seasons (acoustic) is really amazing, my all time favorite and beautiful song from cornell is nowhere but you. it's rare to find beautiful music and an artist that can just be true to his/herself. i wish i got to see jeff buckley, perfect example of beauty.
I have been the biggest Chris Cornell fan since I was a kid. I have to admit..........I LOVE the new album. I know some aren't happy with it however I think its one of the best albums. I own every album that Chris Cornell was involved with and I love each and every album however I LOVE that Chris has such a verstatile voice. I know people aren't a big fan of change however change is what music is about. I am loving the fact that Chris's new album reflects today's music and the fact that Chris can pull of both proves the talent that he has. I saw Chris in London, ON CANADA and at the end of the show Chris said he would be returning to London in February. I have been watching and waiting but haven't heard a thing. PLEASE come back! Your show was AMAZING!!!!! I loved the fact that you did all your music, and not just your new album. It was the MOST entertaining concert I have ever been too, and I have been to a lot of concerts. I was VERY impressed and hope that you come back soon! Hope to see Chris Cornell in London, Ontario CANADA shortly. Thanks, Joanne
I LOVE the new album. I have been a huge fan since I was a kid and I LOVE the fact the Chris's voice is so versatile. I owned each and every CD and this is one of my favourite. I know its a change however that's what music is about! I love the fact that Chris's music reflects the current time period. I saw a great show in London, ON and I was hoping Chris was coming back to London!!!! (during the show Chris said he would be back in February).......We've been waiting! My new favourite song is Part of Me. LOVE IT!!!!! The concert was AMAZING!!! Chris sang everything from Temple of the Dog, to Soundgarden to his new stuff. The best part is.............it appeals to EVERY age group! Hope Chris comes back to London, Ontario CANADA! Joanne
Why would a fan of Soundgarden and/or Audioslave expect an album, that Chris has candidly stated he wanted to push the boundaries, produced by Timbaland to sound like his previous work? Everyone is entitled to their opinions. I respect that. But the hard core rock acts, you like what you like. If you like seafood, but don't like curry, why would you expect to like Seafood curry.....or better still, judge against your favorite seafood dishes. That's absurd. It takes a hard time to get Chris' previous work out of your head, when you first listen to "Scream". But once you do, an accept this album on its own terms, then I conclude that this is one of the best albums of the year. If an artist isn't allow to grow and expand, they become stifled. Rock on Chris! "Get Up", "Part of Me", "Scream", "Time", "Ground Zero", "Other Side of Town"......this album is hot!!!!
Chris Me and my daughter caught your show @ House of blues in Dallas last night. We decided to wait on the album before going so we could get a real thought on your new stuff. "Part of me" made us laugh because we thought you were saying Vampire Bitch! and then you say grabbed me by the neck so we assumed we were right, only to find out later what you were saying. A couple new ones had to grow on me but by the end of the song I was there and diggin it. This album should do really great for you. Last night was our first show ever but wont be our last..... Let your Bass player know we thought he also kicked major Ass! Heavy Beats, Thanks
I persanolly am ok with you censoring it,BUT if people cant't take the languge Chris you don't have to censor it.Anyway love the new album the song Enemy is probly my fave next 2 Scream.I luv the beat 2 this though.
I can't believe your so-called fans that don't appreciate the direction you have taken. I think you are brilliant. You have completely reinvented yourself and thus remain at the top of your game. I consider myself one of your loyalest fans!
I've been waiting for months for this album to finally come out. I have been thoroughly enjoying the new direction & new singles. Yes, I'm a devout Soundgarden & Audioslave fan but I also have an open mind unlike some of the fan on here. Judging from some of the new singles, it seems Susan gave you some good fodder for this album. ;-) good luck with the tour & new album.
CHRIS...IF U ARE READING THIS, THEN I WANT U TO KNOW THAT I CANT BEGIN TO TELL U HOW TRULY PLEASED I AM WITH YOUR STAYING POWER. U ARE AN ENIGMA AND I THINK ALOT OF THE PEOPLE WHO COMMENT ON THIS OR ANY OTHER MUSIC U'VE DONE, DON'T REALLY KNOW HOW TO ACCEPT THAT U HAD SOMETHING DEEPER HIDDEN INSIDE THAT HAD TO BE RELEASED. IT'S CALLED BRANCHING OUT OR CHANGING THE PACE. SWEETHEART U DID NOTHING WRONG AND YOU DON'T OWE ANYONE ANY EXPLANATIONS. YOU HAVE GIVEN PEOPLE SOME OF THE MOST GUT WRENCHING, BANG UR HEAD ANTHEMS OF ALL TIME AND I WOULD HOPE THAT PEOPLE WHO REALLY LOVE AND APPRECIATE U AND UR PAST WORK WILL RESPECT YOU ENOUGH TO SUPPORT THIS AND ANY OTHER PROJECTS U HAVE UP UR SLEEVE. I WONT SAY YAY OR NAY TO THESE SONGS BECAUSE I AM BIASED... I LOVE YOU NO MATTER WHAT. BUT WHAT I WILL SAY IS I AM A BLACK FEMALE IN JERSEY CITY WHO LISTENS TO THESE SONGS AND KNOWS IN MY HEART THAT THE MAN BEHIND THEM IS THE SAME MAN WHO GAVE ME BILLIE JEAN LIVE, SHADOW ON THE SUN AND BLACK HOLE SUN. NEVER STOP BEING THERE FOR YOU.....THERESA AKA DA WETT1
Due to the fact, that Soundgarden was a part of my life in younger years, abd i still listen to it practically every day, it might be so, that i feel strange when listening to a turn around like that. Chris still have a good voice and maybe people who like Timberlands productions, feel fine with these songs. To be honest, i feel bad. This smells fast money. If Chris would reunite Soundgarden for the only purpose of shoveling Dollars, i would spend some bucks. This is not more music, that i like. And of course, this is just my point of view, Chris is of course free to go the way, that seems right to him and i wish him luck. Over and out.
What makes me laugh is that everyone is listening to the music and making a comment on how good or how bad it is. Chris is doing a job and like most people we look at our current position every now and again and think I'd like to do something different but we never do it and I applaude Chris for this. Yes we all know about the backgorund of Soundgarden, Audioslave, etc and the early solo material (for me I still feel that 'Can't Change Me' is iconic) but whether you like it or not you are still listening to it so answer me this, if you don't like it why do you listen to it because I guarantee that you didn't listen to it just once before you left a comment. Chris, I don't know if you look at these comments but let me just say that you have the best rock vocals I have ever heard in my life and I applaude you for having the balls to do something out of the box (even though Timberland is a bit too commercial for my taste). At the end of the day it is you who has to look in the mirror and say does the sound right, if the answer is yes then great, if no, then at least you can say you've tried it because you will always have the rock following as that will never die. I have just pre-ordered your new album (due 25th March UK) and even if it is good/bad at the end of the day I don't care because what is more important is that you are still making music. Please come back to Manchester UK Enjoy the ride Chris Regards Si
makes me also like soundgarden and rage, but i later relized that there is something wrong in your head. first of all, you need to have an instument. i realized that me sticking up for you caused me to be a hypocrit because this is why i dont like rappers. im done now. the reform of rage is writing absolutely no knew songs wich sucks but no song is better than shit song. i dont mean to be rude, but if you dont pick back up the guitar soon, your going to loose alot of fans. and secondly, if your going to do a song like this with no instruments, then atleast leave the bitches in the song. please, good song, bad choice of cowriters.
I'm brazilian girl who waited for a long, long time to see you at last year and I swear! I didn´t expect that your voice growed so much since Jesus Christ Pose, it was a grateful surprise for me.Your show in São Paulo, was the best thing that i could receive in my life, because your career could be finished after Soundgarden, but no you survive and grows up, at that stage you're like a miracle to me. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH THAT HURTS! But this albun....I don't know..is it a kind of experience that you trying for now, ok? I hope you already realized that's not good neither as a pipe dream...come on, come back to reality, pleeeeaaase!!!
I like music becouse you like music,i sing becouse you sing,i like grunge becouse you liked grunge.Be quiet,i have got a soul, don't do anything you do.But,you was still rocking alone ,why have you done that stuff?? I'm was only a fan,but ,a very good fan you have lost. Sorry for my English. Carlos Sevilla,SPAIN.
First of all, I would like to say that I have been a fan of yours SINCE BEFORE YOU LEARNED TO SING. Your songs then were actually better than this crap. Heck, even Timbaland's work with Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake is better than this. What's up with the video? It looks like a cheap version of Britney Spears' 'I'm a Slave 4 U'. What really baffles me is that your show at the Fillmore in San Francisco last year was amazing. All the songs from the new album rocked, including this one. How can teh studio version be so awful? You can explore other types of music, there is nothing wrong with that. But when it's bad, it's bad. Sorry. I am still going to go to your shows, because you do ROCK live. And yes, I am confused. You have to do something to fix this. Here is a suggestion: record one of your live shows and put that out as the album.
The rest of Audioslave are probably laughing at him now that Rage are back and playing way better without Chris
I forgot to add this took 6 weeks to write. Real bands work on albums properly. Cornell and Timbaland(a talentless twat) obviously wrote down any old crap they could think of. Cornell you have talent use it. Don't waste it. This is my third comment in 10 minutes cos i find new things to say. I think this a selling out phase thats gonna begin with this album. Maybe this album should've been named 'No scream with some crap rap producer and no instruments required to make garbage'. It fits the description better.
I agree with Mikeytx. His comment is so true. It is garbage. The people who like this are not real Cornell fans. Real Cornell fans respect the Soundgarden albums, Temple of the Dog(Awesome album), Audioslave and also his previous 2 albums. Euphoria Morning was a work of a genius. The Soundgarden albums rocked like hell. Audioslave was some kick ass rock. Carry On was alright. Scream garbage. I hate this with a passion.
I'm sorry but what is this. This is absolutly horrible to listen to. R&B sucks and cornell has talent. I own every album cornell has been in. I'm not wasting my money on a pile of garbage. Cornell fans don't buy the album cos hopefully it doesn't sell so that he sees the error of his way and changes back to rock but if he continues then i will declare him one of the worst musicians ever. Is this album intended for 12 year olds? People that listen to R&B don't know who Cornell is and proper Cornell fans think this is crap. You need to go back and stop selling out.
Chris, man, you have so much more going on than this. You can make so many GREAT things happen... New album is not bad. I mean, I am still in denial, but I do realize that it is just another type of music, from which you cannot expect what you expect from Rock. I have followed you from Chile since early Soundgarden. Cried when you guys split, absolutely LOVED and still love Euphoria Morning and assisted - when everyone said you were finished, you couldn't sing, etc... to the GREATEST CONCERT EVER. I'm sure you remember it man. For 3 Hours you did not stop singing really loud. You gave us your very best and man, I still get chills down my spine when I remember it. You must remember the response of the crowd. How we sang every single song you played. You gave us Soundgarden, Chris Cornell, Temple of the Dog and Audioslave. Even a little Zeppelin. I'd trade both of Pearl Jam's shows in Chile for yours. And god knows how I love PJ and how good they are live. Anyways, point is: I respect your new work, although I may not listen to it very much. And God knows I'm trying hard. I'm not that one sided retro always listen to the same type of stuff forever guy, and I really like artist evolving and experimenting. Growing as artist and as a person. I will always be a fan of you and you're damn sure I'll sell anything to be there in March, when you come to Chile. I just hope and pray to God that you bring your guitar!!! Jose.-
hi there chris (hope you are reading this..) i am 39 and been following your trip through music since 1989 and i have to say that i think of you as a good friend that, with his music and lyrics, was always there for me..time to make it up to you (even though i dont think you really need it) and say that i dont really care what kind of music you are, at any given time, making..only thing that matters is that you are happy making it!! and i dont really know why, but i sence that you are. Not only with your music but with your life in general.(saw you in Athens,Greece in 2007 and you were glowing!!,managed to get a smile and a bye bye wave when you were leaving backstage...happy to say that i was one of your local crue..) .that makes me(and should make the rest of us fans)happy...i feel that you feel liberated in a way and that this is what you were waiting for..so keep on doing what makes you happy..dont forget that music is only the soundtrack of the film of our lives..not so important..but something that can give us joy making it or listening to..continue your walk through the garden of sounds..just dont get lost..there are people that care about you and are waiting for you to come back home.. a friend
While I greatly respect your desire to branch off and try new genres and whatever else, I wanted to add my name to the pile of those that just can't get into this. It seems awfully weak, honestly; your voice being the only strong part of it all. Euphoria Morning still stands as the peak of your solo material, in my opinion, so maybe one day you'll decide to try something more up that path again. One can hope. But in the meantime, always a fan. Much respect and much love to you, Chris.
OK, so he tried something new. How about next time, maybe try Bob Rock who produced Metallica's Black album. Or some other collaboration. Seems as though he is a bit lost without a band to grow and experiment with. It is a shame that the inner turmoil of a band can break it up, but sometimes it can produce a better album. I'd like to see a more blues oriented album. He was going to the dog show but kind of lost his way.
I just wish you would not have edited "BITCH" out it. Please bring back the unedited version!! Your amazing! I love all your music. It makes the time at the gym go so fast. THANK YOU CHRIS!!! See ya in DC!!
you are the only music in my cd player i listen to soundgarden and audioslave everyday.from your new music scream and ground zero is great, but this one this bitch aint a part of me???wtf this has no meaning at all.i dont mean to offend you i love you but this video is bad.it could be a justin timberlake video.man what ur doing?go back to something more REAL and DARK for your TRUE fans.thank you
TELL ME THIS IS ONLY A NIGHTMARE PLEASE!!!!!MY FAVOURITE ARTIST IS GONE!! ITS TIME FOR THE WORLD TO GO DOWN!!!
I think that sometimes people forget....Soundgarden, God bless them, are a part of the past. Audioslave...they are the same. I think, just my personal opinion, that people need to remember those bands for what they were and what they did and move on a little. Chris is an amazing talent and it just shows it more moving his rock stylings into hip hop. I think it's creative and one of the best things that have come out of hip hop to date with all the other shit that they put out. Take it for what it is and keep on posting your opinions cause everyone has one, and this is mine. Keep on bringing it Chris! Love it!
Chris, your voice is amazing. No matter what style of music ... you make it sound .....absolutly fantastic!!! Take care
Uhm... simply, I don't get it? I truly respect everything you have created musically - in one way or another. I do have mixed feelings about this latest effort. Your artistic freedom is your own, of course, but why are you doing this? It's kinda like you are just trying out a different kind of music for the polarity factor? There were other options....right?
How did this happen? I read every comment posted here and can't believe that half of you like this garbage. Who are you people? Oviously not soundgarden fans. I don't like this and never will. I think Chris sould've given up singing before he decided to put his name on this hip hop trash. A part of me feels obligated to listen just because it's Chris Cornell but I'm very disappointed.
Have to say , not what i was expecting, but its ok. You got a great voice, make any song sound good! Been a fan since Soundgarden and seen you in Glasgow with Audioslave - awesome! Not everybodys gonna get what your doing, but as Freddie Mercury said when Queen got crap about their Hot Space album 'Its only a bloody record!' :-)
this song is awesome just absolutely awesome ,,,but in the music video ...a coweboy dance ?WTF the video reminds me of the south park episode Bebe's boobs destroy society lol when they all start fighting about the girl .
Firstly, I would like to state that I've been a fan of yours since OLD Soundgarden. I listened to this album with an open mind, a real open mind and I'd put it low on your scale, but it's not a complete disaster. What I feel you've lost a bit of is lyrical quality. Songs like "Part Of Me" and "Watch Out" show this. You're best song in this album so far (outside the outstanding hidden, "Two Drink Minimum") is Ground Zero. Here you tell a story successfully and use lyrics that are at least in the same league as what you've been utilizing in the past. (I can see you've tried hard to fit your voice with the R'n'B beats but I'd like to put it this way, you make Timbaland sound a lot better than he does you) My most sincere advice here would be to leave this genre and go back to rock. I know you want to branch out but this can be done in a much more productive way, perhaps you could call up Slash and see if he has a vacancy at lead singer in Revolver. (*hint *hint).
I really enjoyed this video. At first I Was like, what's going on? But yeah, real great video and song. I have not heard much else from you (as being solo) but I'm sure going to find out. Hopefully your discs are available at my local store. =D The beat was real catchy and I really wanted to get moving! lol. Cannot wait to introduce this to the locals. =D Although I have for close friends, and they are by far, loving the song as well. Only thing that isn't to my liking, is that the word B*itch is censored while trying to download. lol. That's it. Other than that, very great song.
There's some comments from people on here who just don't seem to get that this video is supposed to be humourous...i mean if he was doing a pop video like Justin timberlake he'd be in there dancing with the girls....its IRONIC...! he's just watching while the same thing happens over & over, men fighting over a girl anda it's like he's invisible.
I've listened to you for a while and I have yet to be disappointed keep it up
Chris, i really loved your music with audioslave and your last album, i have them all. here in brazil u´ve got a lot of fans... and of couse a great part ofthem r goin to lose their minds when they listen to ur new album (in the negative way). but i have to say, that as a huge fan of yours I REALLY LOVED THE NEW MOVES! I think that music is there for everyone to try it the way they want it to be. the idea of experimenting new sounds with timbaland is fenomenal, i mean, who cares if ur known as a great rock singer and wants to experiment some hip hop-pop music... i think its awesome and with your voice, im sure that u could sing samba and it would be fine. despite of being tired of this "timbaland age", cuz everything has been sonding just the same, i found your piece of work different, unique, and i am, forsure, going to buy this album too. just be careful with too much dancers in your videos, part of me isa great song, but the "bitches" shaking like beyonces videos werent necessary! love you and your music!

Not crying yet. I loved Euphoria Morning. Just loved it. Beautiful work. Scream is okay. I like the song. The video tells a story. But this? 18 yr old back up dancers? Booty shaking back up dancers? I'm hoping this is some kind of midlife crisis, and it will be over soon. I'm hoping he'll pick up the guitars and rock this video right out of his system.
blah....blah...blah... I know it's only MY opinion, but I love all the new stuff. It doesn't matter what he sings, it's still the same voice. This man is EXTREMELY talented. Never thought I'd like this type of music but it's Chris and I'm digging it. I'm glad he's going in another direction...just goes to show you how talented he really is.... Okay, all you crybabies, time to start complaining again!!!!

yeah, it is true what some guy said there, you should do what makes you happy....But if the way you are taking disappoints me? yes, it does ALOT! Your voice it is SOOOOOO great... It is a pitty
Sorry Chris, you could sing the phone book and it would sound great. But this? Reduced to half-rap about "bitches" My eyes and ears just melted, and not in the good way like the soundgarden days!!!!!
ok look i love all his music from grunge to alternitive to hip hop.Who knows why he went this route , but the song is great. Please give him a break but yes constructive critiscism is good sometimes but not how you guys say it will ruin his carrer. I think it's great chris but hey i'm only 12;-)
You've got to do what makes you happy. Some people will like it and some people won't. Who cares. We still know whatcha got :)
No no no !!! What happend Chris? this is so not you! that's bad music... really low quality. What's with all the slutts and the dancing? did I fall asleep and woke up in a "backstreet boys" video? please stop this. Do new things, go ahead... but why pop/hip hop? why?? so depressed...
OK, it is only my opinion! I love it !! I was also a bit sceptical at first, but how can you say you dont like brussel sprouts if ya never tasted em´! It opens up a whole new world for music and its fresh! Great stuff:)
It is my personal opinion! I think its great, i enjoyed it very much. I was very sceptical at first, but like all music "ARTISTS" i listen before i judge. Its something completly new, and its "FRESH" Thanks Mr. Cornell.
It's so witty. Vladimir is so funny and Chris looks great...song's really grown on me too, didnt like it at first but now I can't stop singing it.
I love some of the new songs, I like less others, but who cares ? ... Do what you want, do what you like Chris ^^
Saw you in upstate NY last year in a smaller club, you rocked ...Keep doing what your doing...
PLEASE GO BACK TO AUDIOSLAVE! I don't like you like a pop singer... You have such a good voice! don't waste it.
WOW
Great album!!!! Can't stop listening!!!
